Isa. 51:1 – “Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.”
There is no greater need today than for God’s people to seek the LORD and remember the timeless truths of who we are, where we are going, and how far He has brought us. But many have forgotten these things.
Though we would disagree with many of his beliefs and statements, it is interesting to note that Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote that, “Religion is listening to what the centuries say to the hours.” We Christians need to understand what the centuries say to the hours so that we may once again teach the lost and dying world about the dying, resurrected, and soon returning Savior of the world. We need a new vision for an old task. Right is still greater than might. Truth is still greater than error. Eternity is still greater than time. Jesus still saves.
God wants us to listen, learn, and look to the things that matter most. He is still the Rock of our salvation. He reached down in love and provided redemption for all who are lost in sin and blindness. He is still the answer. We who know him as our Saviour must see the world as He sees it so that He may use us to win people to Him. That is the most important job we will ever have. And we only have hours as it were, not centuries, to labor in His fields. May He give us grace to do so.
