To the natural person’s mind, does this not sound preposterous: Honey from a rock? 

Any scientist who studies rocks, any child who throws them, and any man who constructs buildings can tell you that there is no honey in rocks. But Almighty God, the highest authority of the universe, tells us in Scripture that if Israel had obeyed God during their time of testing, they could have been replenished with the precious sweetness of honey. And it would have been found in, of all places, rocks. 

There are times when life confronts us with a trial or problem that we cannot avoid and we wonder how in the world we are going to live through it. We can learn from the experiences of Moses and can endure when we stand steadfast in our faith. 

You might think a mountain or a river is beautiful. A poet or other creative sort might think of them as having "personality." You might even think of them as being in a relationship with you. Ultimately, though, it takes a person to have a relationship with another person.

All the daily duties of this life tend to make us anxious. Even when things are going well for God’s people, we worry that we have nothing to worry about. But trust in Christ gives us the grace to dismiss the dark, dismal, distressing world of anxiety surrounding us.

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12

Miss Gaye never taught a class, led a Bible study, or counseled others formally, but, like Tabitha in Acts 9, she “was full of good works and almsdeeds” that I’ll never forget.

One of Dr. Bob Jones' “Ten Things to Remember,” was “You don’t find happiness looking for it. You stumble over it on the road of duty.” Happiness is not a goal to be achieved, but a  serendipity on the road of duty.

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote that, “Religion is listening to what the centuries say to the hours.”  We Christians need to understand what the centuries say to the hours. We need a new vision for an old task...

God’s Word gives us a recipe for a happy home, and, if followed, we can have a home where biblical harmony can prevail.  But the recipe must be followed daily...
