Jesus climbed a hill. Three chapters later, he came down. Between his ascent and his descent, he delivered the famous Sermon on the Mount, recorded in Matthew chapters five through seven. This was no ordinary sermon...it was the proclamation of a King.

To the natural person’s mind, does this not sound preposterous: Honey from a rock? 

Any scientist who studies rocks, any child who throws them, and any man who constructs buildings can tell you that there is no honey in rocks. But Almighty God, the highest authority of the universe, tells us in Scripture that if Israel had obeyed God during their time of testing, they could have been replenished with the precious sweetness of honey. And it would have been found in, of all places, rocks. 

There are times when life confronts us with a trial or problem that we cannot avoid and we wonder how in the world we are going to live through it. We can learn from the experiences of Moses and can endure when we stand steadfast in our faith. 

You might think a mountain or a river is beautiful. A poet or other creative sort might think of them as having "personality." You might even think of them as being in a relationship with you. Ultimately, though, it takes a person to have a relationship with another person.
