In 1947, American artist, Martyl Langsdorf created the iconic Doomsday Clock image for the cover of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. The image was intended to signal how close humanity was to self-destruction. Today the Doomsday Clock is located at the Bulletin office in the Keller Center, home of the University of of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. The hands of the clock are currently set at 90 seconds to midnight to represent the feeling that mankind is facing an unprecedented level of danger. It is said if the hands were to reach midnight it would indicate some sort of nuclear exchange or catastrophic climate change that's wiped out humanity. Scientists are often more discerning of the signs of times among those who reject “the sure word of prophecy” in the Bible. Scripture foretells cataclysmic judgments coming upon our sin-sick , Christ-Rejecting world.

The Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, spoke prophetically of this significant midnight event: “And at midnight there was a cry made, 'Behold, the bridegroom cometh!'" (Matthew 25:6.)  May it be said of God's Children today, as it was in Old Testament times: “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” (1 Chronicles 12:32a.) What God’s Children today need to be doing is clearly revealed in His Word: “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of man cometh." (Matthew 24:44) Like the little boy said to his parent when a large Grandfather clock failed to stop chiming at midnight, “It’s later than it has ever been before.”

“Little children, it is the last time.” 1 John 2:18a.

“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” (Romans 13:12)

“The coming of the Lord draweth nigh.” (James 5:8)
