"So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the Gospel to you that are at Rome also." Romans 1:15.
The Pastors of good Bible believing churches are eager to share the Word of God with those they are called to serve. I know that is true of our pastor. God has called and commissioned these pastors to teach their congregations about salvation and how to apply the Scriptures to our daily lives. Again, we know for sure this is true of our pastor. It is the responsibility of the members of these churches with godly, faithful spiritual leaders to meet their eagerness with encouragement and prayer. Many a pastor, the spiritual leaders of their churches, has suffered the frustrations of failure, rejection, and discouragement, just as we who fill the pews each week. We must continue to keep our spiritual leaders covered in prayer and give them words of encouragement as they labor in their vineyards to complete the work of the Lord. Our words of encouragement express our gratefulness for them. As the Wise man wrote in Proverbs 25:11 “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” And in verse 13, "As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he (your pastor) refresheth the soul of his master. In Hebrews 13:18 The Apostle Paul requested prayer for himself, his deliverance of the Gospel, and his ministry. Pastors carry the burdens of their church in their hearts and need our prayers on a daily basis.
The words of the poem “Our Pastor” by Leon G. Browne says it well:
October is the official month for Pastor Appreciation, but we do not have to wait until then to let our pastor know how much we love and appreciate him for all that he does for us personally and for our church. A thank you card, an encouraging text, or simply a comment that, "I prayed for you today," could be just what the doctor ordered for today. Pastors need encouragement just like we who fill the pews. Church attendance is another way of encouraging your pastor. Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Bible study and prayer time during the midweek. It takes as much time to prepare a message for 1 as it does foe a 1000. Show your pastor how much you appreciate his study and preparation by being there in person to learn what God has given him.
